God Speaks

A 68 year old captain was asked many years ago how he came to the point of surrendering  himself to the Lord Jesus. He answered: "I am ashamed to say that I only came to the Lord Jesus and surrendered myself eight years ago. I was on an island near Malmö and in the unpleasant position of having to wait two hours in a waiting room. I had soon throroughly read all the newspapers on display and was bored. When I was finished with those, my gaze fell on a Bible that is displayed in waiting rooms in Sweden. I hesitantly reached for it.

As I was opening it, I heard an old man nearby loudly pray for me: "See Lord Jesus, someone is reaching for Your Word. Give light that he may find You in it!“ When I heard this, I threw the Bible away from me and stormed out the door, because a restlessness seized me that would not let go. I traveled home, but found no peace. What could the old man have meant?

I had a godly friend in my hometown. I went to him with my restlessness and he proclaimed to me Jesus Christ as Savior and Deliverer. I then, with God’s grace, surrendered myself.“

May all our readers that have not yet taken this step, allow themselves to be drawn to Jesus in the same way! God has given us His Word and in it He shows us the Way of Salvation through the acceptance of the crucified and resurrected Lord.
